Just like everything in life, beginnings are always the hardest. For authors, writing the first paragraph of the first chapter of a book can often take as much energy as writing that entire first chapter or two. For athletes, getting motivated to start the first workout of the new season can be incredibly difficult. It’s easy to understand why many people give up before they ever begin — it just feels too hard and overwhelming. But believe me, this is a beginning you want to start. When trying to stop binge eating, the toughest challenge is recognizing the disorder for what it is and trying to come up with a plan that will cure yourself.
For those that are new to to the site, I encourage you to take your time and read up on your disorder and all the possible methods and tools you can use to cure yourself with. Having the right information and knowing how to apply it is critical before starting any type of program to stop binge eating. Everyone is very different and folks have different degrees and triggers for their own binge eating problems. Only you know yourself. Do your own research and form your own opinions. There is no one sized plan that works for everybody. Also it may only take you a day or it may take you a month to determine the right path you need to take to cure yourself. Keep in mind that you may need to go down several different paths until you find the right one that leads to the solution that works for you.
For those who have been down different binge eating recovery paths already and who are still struggling with Binge Eating, don’t give up hope. I struggled with it for years before I was able to finally get it under control. It’s just a matter of finding what works for you. Just like a mechanic who works on fixing car problems, it’s a matter of recognizing what the issue is and likely causes, coming up with several possible resolutions and plans to resolve it, and most important of all, having a toolbox packed with all the possible tools they might need to do the repair to include having the skills and knowledge to use the tools properly. Preparing yourself to break your binge eating habit requires just the right tool that will work for you. Sometimes you need to dig deep in the toolbox to find it, but I guarantee the right tool is in there somewhere.
Don’t give up and don’t be discouraged. Continue to try again if you have tried already and failed once, twice or a hundred times before. Go back to the first step — arming yourself with knowledge and come up with a new plan. A suggestion is to continue reading the articles and resources here at and listening to the Progress Not Perfection Podcast in taking that first step. Continue to read other books and just try different methods to stop binge eating.
Eventually you will beat it!!!
